Previous Travel

It has been that way — peri­ods of loung­ing in too great com­fort at home, inter­spersed with peri­ods on the road — since I first stepped off the Dover-Calais Ferry as a very wet-behind-the-ears 16-year old with two bags, from which I would be sep­a­rated only a week later.

This web­site is the story of my lat­est trip, a cycling one start­ing in Prud­hoe Bay on the Arc­tic Ocean in Alaska and sev­eral jour­nals of pre­vi­ous trips going all the way back to that ill-fated trip into France in the sum­mer of 1985.
